Yunmi Kim

DOB : December 1, 1980

One of the most decorated athletes in the sport, Kim won her first Olympic gold medal in the ‘94 Lillehammer Winter Games at the age of thirteen. She is currently in the Guinness Book of World records as the youngest Olympic gold medalist in any sport. After winning her second Olympic Gold in ‘98 Nagano and countless World Cup gold medals, she retired at an early age of 22 to become a coach and a student as an Athletic Trainer.

The Leading Edge Short Track Speedskating Club was organized by Jaemok (Kevin) Chun  in the Spring of 2004, this allowed more practice time for competitive area skaters.  We belong to Chesapeake Speedskating which oversees clubs in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.  Leading Edge is a direct member of U.S. Speedskating, which is the national governing organization of amateur and elite speedskating.
